A first comprehensive film project, THE VIRUS, was created in 2021 at the intersection of photography and film in the context of a scholarship from the Bremen Senator for Culture. The film highlights the collective experience of lockdown and the consequences of COVID-19 for mental health. Bremen-based musician Dietmar Kirstein created a sound collage to accompany the images, allowing viewers to immerse themselves visually and auditorily in the respective mood or emotional state. Through THE VIRUS, the medium of film became an integral part of Beate C. Koehler's work.
* Supported by an artist grant from the Senator for Culture within the framework of Bremen-Corona-Hilfen.
