PORTFOLIO | BIO

WALKING THE TIDELINE shows Beate C. Koehler's view of SAN FRANCISCO'S PACIFIC COAST, of a wild piece of nature in close proximity to the city's urban, bustling life. Over the course of September 2022, the artist walked the tide line from Fort Funston in the south of the city to Marshall's Beach in the north, in close proximity to the Golden Gate Bridge, immersing herself in coastal life, observing the sea and the animals, fascinated by the beauty and diversity of the beaches and the interplay of the elements.

WALKING THE TIDELINE is part of the FREQUENCIES project, in which the artist deals with the element of water as the origin of our life and the basis of our existence. She creates portraits of various bodies of water such as the lakes of Bremen, the Main River, and the North Pacific Ocean (THE RHYTHM OF WATER), while at the same time exploring the interrelationship between humans and water (WATER DIALOGUES). In both contexts, Beate C. Koehler cooperates across disciplines with a colleague, on the one hand with Nanja Heid, installation, on the other with Tina Badenhop, (fire) dance & performance.
