Beate C. Koehler is preoccupied with questions of identity and the relationship between humans and the environment. She constantly strives to make the sensually perceived other tangible in her photographs, video, and sound installations. Her works often arise from the fusion/collage of image, film, and/or sound material. Cross-disciplinary collaboration with various colleagues inspires and enriches the artist immensely. This, along with numerous professionally motivated trips to collect material and participate in international art festivals, continuously promotes her artistic development.
