I work and collage as a photographer and video artist with self-made image, film and sound material. In multi-layered photographic and cinematic works I let my counterpart and my environment come alive. The emphasis is on identity and the relationship between man and environment/habitat.
In the project PATCHWORK IDENTITY my focus is on portrait photography. Here I deal with the facets of human identity. Through the fusion of numerous levels, I express my view of the complexity of the portrayed person and let the viewer participate in my encounter with people and my subjective view of the portrayed persons.
A first more comprehensive filmic work was created in 2021 with THE VIRUS at the interface between photography and film in the context of a grant from the Bremen Senator for Culture. The film illuminates the collective experience of lock-down and the mental health consequences of COVID-19. The musician Dietmar Kirstein from Bremen has created the appropriate sound collage for each of the thematic focal points, giving viewers the opportunity to immerse themselves visually and aurally in the respective mood or emotional state. In the FREQUENCIES project I deal with the element of water as the origin of our life and the basis of our existence. I portray various bodies of water such as the lakes of Bremen, the Main River and the North Pacific Ocean (THE RHYTHM OF WATER) and at the same time explore the interrelationship between humans and water (WATER DIALOGUES). In both contexts I work interdisciplinary with a colleague, on the one hand with Nanja Heid, installation, on the other hand with Tina Badenhop, (fire-)dance & performance. go > back to p.h.o.t.o.art > to documentary project photography > to business and individual shootings > to women artist collective Mete Cheer
